Using the moon phases to connect with your intentions

The moon has a powerful effect on water. This is studied intensively by scientists who track how the moon impacts the ocean and the tides.  Our human bodies are made up of 85% water, which might explain why we are also impacted by the moon phases.

Along her cycle, the Moon in her phases allows connection with different kinds of energy. As part of the nature, she is constantly changing, teaching us that change is not something to fear but rather to embrace.

While she grows, she invite us in new energy and opportunities. While she wanes and moves into darkness, she releases her shadows.

How can we actually use this?

Observing nature’s rhythms and align ourselves with them is a useful tool for the understanding of how what happens outside can affects and influences what happens within us, is part of know how we work.

Set intentions with the moon phases creates an opportunity to live intentionally living, allowing us to bring meaningful and deep transformation into our lives. Connecting with the moon allows for deep transformation and creation through the moon cycle.

Why does this matter?

Let’s give a look in the moon phases:

New Moon

The New Moon is when we are at our lowest…energy-wise.

It’s the time for set intentions. We could consider beginning a new practice or creating a new moon ritual to give energy to our intention. Setting intentions can be difficult, but there are a few things to keep in mind that will make the process easier. It must be something we deeply care about, that fuel our willpower. For example, saying we’d like to find a career we are passionate about and enjoy doing will be motivating. The intention must be personal, we can’t set an intention that is outside of ourselves.

Lastly, we must live as if your intention already exists. Using I am statements, transform the way we think and feel, rather than saying I will or I want to be.

Waxing Crescent Moon

By the crescent moon, we have patterned our mind to think of our intention as already coming to life. During the crescent moon phase, we begin to feel our intention has manifested. Feeling the emotions associated with our intention filling our body. We can create an I am statement that embodies the emotions we feel from acting as though our intention is brought to life. Here we communicate and get inspired to make a plan and take action.

From the First quarter at this phase we want to accelerate our intention. What can you do to take action to support your intention?  We vibe in strength, determination and commitment. This is the most powerful time to be proactive and physically create your intention in the world.

Make an I am statement that motivates you each morning to take action and use your power to create all that you imagined. 

Waxing Gibbous Moon

This is the moon phase where we have to surrender to the universe. We have the power to create anything you imagine in your life, however the universe will guide us when we are holding onto desires that aren’t in our best interests. It’s this time that we may realize that our intention may come to fruition in a way that was different than we envisioned it would, and that is okay. During this time, we must open ourselves to the possibility of that. 

This is the time between the New Moon and the day before the Full Moon. During this time the energy of the body moves into our higher centers (chakras). This is the time to bring new things, new people or new relationships into our life or to accelerate the progress of our special projects.

Full Moon

We are naturally accelerated on a full moon. We are at our highest energy level.

The full moon is the time to release what no longer serves us. We might have noticed old habits, beliefs or patterns that were blocking our ability to fully embody our intention during the first half of the moon phase. The full moon gives us the chance to release those old ways and come face to face with these issues so we no longer need to hold onto them. Have a full moon ritual and release those tendencies so we can continue move forward in the life we are creating now and amplify the energy. 

Waning Gibbous or Disseminating Moon

During this moon phase, as we come face to face with our shadows that have held us back, we address them with an open heart. Don’t shy away from any emotions, negative behaviours or thoughts that arise, but rather welcome them and use them as an opportunity to learn and grow. It’s about let go and practice gratitude.

At the Last Quarter, we might notice our intention is coming to life slowly, but surely, possibly in a way different that we initially thought. In this phase, we can take action to move forward in the way the universe is guiding us. Allow the transformation of our accomplishments to fully emerge with gracefulness. 

Waning Crescent or Balsamic Moon

Between the Full Moon and the day before the New Moon, is important to take time to rest, reflect, contemplate and solidify our transformation.This is the best time to remove things, relationships or situations from our life that no longer serve you. 

Before entering into the next moon phase, it is important to give thanks for all that we have learned, achieved and changed during this cycle. 

With the next new moon, we can adjust our original intention or set a new intention. Living in tune with the moon is a powerful way to connect with the energy of the Divine and Mother Nature.
